So, I decided to build my ultimate track bike for my retirement and birthday present in the fall of 2008. I chose to build it based upon the 2008 CBR600RR. I took the stock bike and broke it in with about 800 miles on the street over a couple of weekends. Then the build stated. Over a period of several winter months, mostly spent waiting for parts to get in, we built the "old Fart Racing" 600RR down at A & B Cycle.

At Barbers Motorsports Park June 09.

The Build

A short photo documentary of the CBR's build.

The new bike comes home.

The break-in

The build starts after the last day on the street.

The stock body works removed.

Ready to head to the shop to start the build.

Forks pulled to be sent out to Dan Kayle Racing in CA for the Ohlins rebuild.

Installing the slipper clutch & electronics.

My buddies lend a hand..."....let's get his thing done.."

New parts on, old stuff off.

Down in the throttle bodies and wiring the Power Commander.

New brake lines, Gillies chain adjusters, 520 chain conversion & sprockets.

Brembo Master Cylinder & fabricated reservoir mount.

Woodcraft Case guards, sliders & Vortex rearsets. Race exhaust still not in.

Woodcraft Clip-ons and ignition switch removal and modification.

Phase 1 of the build almost finished, Shark Skinz mounted and ready for paint.

The first attempt to get her on the track for a shake down run was a disaster....it snowed at Barbers Motorsports Park that morning. Go figure!

Another late night & finished the day before the first track day at Jennings GP.

The bike sees daylight for the first time in her full colors.

At Barbers Motorsports Park April 25 & 26. Note the new Carrozzeria wheels and Galfer wave rotors.

Barber's track exiting turn 5 during on June 26, showing the low mount Brembo rear caliper. It is a pain to change wheels, so I may go back to a high mount.

Well, the bike met all my expectations and the only thing left I want to add, is to put either Brembo or ISR calipers on the front.
