(Sorry, this is my disclaimer for today's litigious society and the tendency to blame everyone else for their problems: i.e.: the only good lawyer is one who is working for you when you need him or her...... otherwise you are fair game, unless you happen to be happily married to him/her.)
A while back, I acquired an original US market Honda RC30 (49 state version) and hope to share the joy of owning one of Honda's classic, most recognized exotic bikes, the RC30. The RC30 won numerous racing titles around the world and is considered by many in the motorcycling world to be one of the top ten motorcycles ever made. Honda imported 316 of these into the US in 1990 only. Over the RC30's life span, a total of 3708 were made for world wide export from 1988 to 1991. These bikes were made by hand in the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) shops by a special team, and not on the regular production lines. Fairings were hand-laid fiberglass, bikes were hand assembled, and components are engineered for the race track. Of course to be fully competitive in serious professional racing, one had to buy the additional HRC race components, which cost almost as much as the bike itself. Only the 1994 RC45 successor to the RC30 is considered to be in the same league, although there is still much ongoing debate between RC30 & RC45 enthusiasts as to which bike was the best. Since I think they are both, in there own way, the best exotic homologation race bikes for the street, I have one of each! So visit my RC45 page too!
Hopefully, other Honda V4 aficionados and riders will find something useful on this page, or just enjoy sharing the legacy and the camaraderie of owning and riding the the Honda V4 powered sport bikes: the RC30, and the VF & VFR series. Some of my narrative comments will also reflect my opinions about safety and non-2 wheeled drivers. If you don't like my views, tough...its my web site.
A great resource for information on Honda VFRs is the VFRD website at http://www.vfrdiscussion.com. I support them and if you ride a VFR, you should too!
RC30 owners should join up with the Honda RC30 Owners Club at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/hondarc30ownersclub2/

Bringing home my new RC30 |
1990 RC300 (VFR750R) - # 125 of 300 imported into US |
I picked up my RC30 from the original owner. It has been a road bike all these years and has a little over 20,000 miles on it. The bike is in reasonably good condition mechanically. The body work is OK, but it has the expected chipping of the paint along leading edges from road debris; has a crunch in the lower fairing where bike was damaged in a transport in a pickup truck. I am currently searching for OEM lower fairing and rear cowl to begin restoration. My intent is to keep the bike as original as possible. It will not be a "garage dolly" as I intend to ride it. I do want to be able to display it, hence the restoration and maintenance of the OEM state.

My Honda V4 collection- a great trio! |
MORE TO COME!
Restoration Begins
Jan 2007 - I finally started getting some parts in and have the time to do a little work. I have the bike up on my lift table and have started to disassemble her a section at a time.
I have a set of new factory OEM fairings, HRC Race Rearsets, 520 chain and a full set of sprockets coming in from Germany. I have new EBC front and rear rotors ready to go. Lots of new hardware is ready for replacement. Other parts maybe off for refinishing as needed.

March 07- Some RC30 stuff arrives and work begins: fork seals rebuild, new rotors being installed, new tail section arrives, minor hardware replaced with NOS/OEM parts .

April 07...The bike gets a new tailpiece, EBC front rotors & pads...plus a few bits of replacement hardware. Work continues.......

In the mean time...I am enjoying the heck out of my RC45!
